Vision and Mission

Central Library sets the goal of establishing a world-class library by integrating information sources and services across disciplines in one umbrella by building a sound and comprehensive collection of both conventional and electronic resources on all branches of knowledge with robust hi-tech infrastructural facilities and to redesign and revamp the systems and services in efficient, effective, and dynamic ways tailoring to meet the myriad information needs of students, research scholars, and faculty members of the college pin-pointedly, exhaustively and expeditiously anywhere on campus and beyond 24 hours for the sake of promoting academic excellence.

Brief about Library

Recognizing the role of library and information services in meeting the requirements of the academic, research, training, and consultancy programs, the Central Library was set up as one of the key divisions of the GEC Autonomous College. It acts as the main information and learning resource center of the college that has provided services and facilities to the academic and administrative communities since 2006. The library is housed in an ultra-modern and well equipped four-storied building with the following objectives :

  • To build a state-of-the-art knowledge resource center.
  • To support the learning process of the students.
  • To fulfill the information/knowledge requirements of the faculty and supporting teaching staff.
  • To provide better resources and information for research and consultancy work carried out by faculty members and students.
  • To provide proactive and innovative information services to the users of the central library.

Over a period of 14 years, the Central library has grown quite impressively. The library has a collection of over 27320 Volumes with 5673 titles of different disciplines. It subscribes to over 71 reputed periodicals. Equipped with the latest designed furniture and fittings, the library has all the modern equipment to support its diverse activities. Computer and related technology have been used to modernize its operations and services. It meets the complex information requirements of a variety of its end-users satisfactorily.

The central library has also developed an e-library that provides access to the best of engineering, related digital resources through its subscription to various e-databases. Apart from The Central Library is the member of DELNET for its inception.

The library remains open round the clock on all working days.
